Learn more >> Quadro Drives Virtual Desktops with Microsoft RemoteFX Microsoft recently released the new RemoteFX graphics feature opening a whole new market for Quadro. As part of Server 2008 R2 service pack 1, RemoteFX is targeted at high-end office environments, just below traditional workstations. Working directly with Microsoft, Quadro cards are the supported solution. With our first RemoteFX WHQL driver, now posted, customers will be able to connect about 10 users on a single Quadro 6000 or Tesla M2070Q. Learn more >> Congratulations to Best Visual Effects Oscar Winner "Inception" Congratulations to the cast and crew of "Inception", the winner of this year’s Oscar for Best Visual Effects. For the first time the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences expanded the Best Visual Effects category to five nominated films, and it was another clean sweep for films that relied on NVIDIA technology—all Oscar nominees in this category were created by studios using Quadro professional graphics solutions. Learn more >> NVIDIA Quadro Helps LOOK Effects Transform Natalie Portman into the Black Swan Visual effects studio LOOK Effects created over 200 shots for Black Swan multiple Academy Award-nominated movie, including the unforgettable visual imagery in the final scene when Nina spins off into madness. On Black Swan, Quadro solutions played a key role in the creation of Portman’s transformational scene, enabling director Darren Aronofsky to work closely with lead 3D artist Shawn Lipowski and quickly iterate shots for review. The breathtaking sequence also clinched a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Special Visual Effects award nomination for LOOK. Learn more >> GPU Performance Changes the Game for Tigar Hare Los Angeles-based Tigar Hare creates cinematics and trailers for some of the hottest video games around. A long-time user of Chaos Group’s V-Ray rendering packages, Tigar Hare recently upgraded to the new V-Ray RT technology, which is greatly accelerated by Quadro GPUs based on the new NVIDIA Fermi architecture. The studio also exploits the GPU when using the mental image’s iray renderer within Autodesk 3Ds Max modeling software, “We’re finally at a point where software has caught up to hardware,” said Hare. “GPU rendering is a game changer — for us and for the whole industry.” Learn more >>
