The NVIDIA nForce Professional family products offer customers a scalable architecture for AMD Opteron-based Server systems.

HyperTransport Technology
NVIDIA's HyperTransport™ design integrates tightly with the AMD Opteron™ Direct Connect Architecture to deliver leading-edge 32-bit and 64-bit performance. HyperTransport is a state-of-the-art I/O bus interface—up to 8.0GB/sec—between the NVIDIA nForce Professional MCP and the CPU.

  Support for Single and Multiple Opteron CPUs
NVIDIA nForce Professional MCPs fully support AMD Opteron CPUs in single and multiple CPU configurations. System designers can build 1P, 2P, 4P and higher server configurations with the NVIDIA nForce Professional 3000 series MCPs.

PCI Express
NVIDIA nForce Professional 3000 Series MCPs integrate an advanced PCI Express architecture that can be configured to support the latest PCI Express cards. Each chip includes 28 PCI Express lanes that can be mapped to 6 controllers in a number of different ways. This gives the system designer the flexibility to support x16, x8, x4 and x1 PCI Express links in the platform. In addition, the NVIDIA nForce Professional 3600 and 3050 chips can be combined to scale to 56 or more PCI Express lanes for systems with industry leading I/O connectivity. The NVIDIA nForce Professional MCPs also support Virtual Channels (VC) on all the PCI Express links, thus providing guaranteed bandwidth and latency for time-sensitive traffic.

NVIDIA Unified Driver Architecture (UDA)
All NVIDIA nForce Professional solutions utilize the NVIDIA Unified Driver Architecture (UDA)—a single software driver solution across all NVIDIA products—ensuring easy installation, maintenance, and upgrades. With NVIDIA UDA, the NVIDIA nForce Professional drivers are both backwards and forwards compatible. This allows IT professionals to upgrade their NVIDIA nForce Professional-based platforms without changing the already qualified drivers.

NVIDIA nForce MediaShield Professional Storage
NVIDIA MediaShield™ storage safeguards all your important data in a reliable, scalable, and accessible manner. NVIDIA storage solution supports various RAID levels as well as SATA 3Gb/sec drive support.

  SATA 3Gb/sec
Take advantage of the latest SATA-2 3Gb/sec hard disk drives with full support for native and tagged command queuing as well as hot plug support. Native command queuing provides higher disk performance in a multi-threaded environment by performing out-of-order disk accesses.

  RAID
MediaShield provides a simple point and click wizard-based interface for creating and managing multi-disk storage configurations. It allows multi-disk designs to be set up for maximum performance (RAID 0), for data mirroring (RAID 1), for data striping (RAID 5) or for a combination of both performance and protection (RAID 0+1). Mediashield also allows RAID volumes to be converted from one configuration to another with a single operation. NVIDIA's MediaShield allows users to assign an extra disk to any RAID volume so that should a disk failure occur, NVIDIA RAID will automatically remove the failed disk and replace it with the spare while the system is still being used.

NVIDIA nForce Professional Networking
NVIDIA networking delivers the highest network throughput at the lowest CPU utilization which frees precious processing resources for computing tasks. NVIDIA's easy to manage and stable network solution reduces customer total cost of ownership.

  NVIDIA Native Gigabit Ethernet
All NVIDIA nForce Professional 3000 series MCPs feature a native dual Gigabit Ethernet controller that is connected directly to the HyperTransport link, which reduces the latency between the Ethernet controller and the CPU. This eliminates network bottlenecks and improves overall system efficiency and performance, resulting in the industry's fastest Gigabit Ethernet.

  TCP/IP Acceleration
NVIDIA nForce Professional MCPs have TCP/IP hardware acceleration capability built in to the native Gigabit Ethernet controller. This dramatically lowers the CPU utilization when processing network traffic at gigabit speeds and is fully compliant with Microsoft's Chimney architecture.

  Load Balancing and Failover (LBFO)
Two network connections work together to provide up to twice the Ethernet bandwidth for transferring large amounts of data from connected devices including Ethernet Switches. This functionality also provides network redundancy through fail-over capability.
