NVIDIA ANNOUNCES THE FIRST ION-BASED NETBOOK AVAILABLE IN EUROPE
NVIDIA ION Brings Amazing Graphics to Thin and Light Samsung Netbook
THEALE, UK — SEPT. 3, 2009 — The wait is over. Consumers can now have a netbook with the same capabilities as full-size systems with the new Samsung N510 featuring the critically acclaimed NVIDIA® ION™ graphics processor.
NVIDIA ION is a small but powerful graphics processing unit (GPU) that works together with a low-power CPU to deliver an amazing graphics experience for compact, energy-efficient systems. By processing data-intensive applications in parallel with the CPU, ION-based PCs offer many of the same capabilities as full-sized notebooks including full support for Windows 7.
ION provides up to 10x faster graphics performance than typical netbooks (1.), giving the Samsung N510 the horsepower to support all Windows versions, flawless HD video including 1080p, and many popular PC games. Its energy-efficient design does this with minimal effect on battery life.
The Samsung N510 is now available in select markets throughout Europe for approximately £399.
“The Samsung N510 with NVIDIA ION delivers a remarkable visual experience,” said Rene Haas, general manager of the notebook GPU business unit at NVIDIA. “Now you can watch HD movies, play games, edit family videos, and even quickly convert video to your iPod using a small netbook with great battery life.”
