NVIDIA Release 80 Graphics Driver Boosts Performance And Increases Flexibility

Available for Download Today, the ForceWare Release 81.84 Graphics Driver Enables SLI Vender Mixing and Now Supports Mobile GPUs

THEALE, UK-October 5, 2005-NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, today upgraded performance for millions of customers with the immediate availability of the NVIDIA ForceWare™ graphics driver Release 81.84. Available today at http://uk.nzone.com, the Release 81.84 graphics driver features:

  • Performance improvements on a variety of NVIDIA GPUs-including a performance boost of up to 15% for GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs in Battlefield 2, 5% improvement for GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs in Far Cry, and 5% for GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs running in SLI mode in Half Life 2
  • Dual core CPU performance optimisations - including performance increases of up to 15% for GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs running Far Cry in SLI mode, and up to 15% for GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs running Half Life 2
  • Mixing of add-in card partner boards based on like GPUs for NVIDIA SLI™ technology - offers customers upgrading to a multi-GPU configuration a wider variety of board choices
  • Support for NVIDIA mobile GPUs - provides instant upgrades for selected notebook computers featuring NVIDIA GPUs
  • PureVideo quality enhancements-support for high definition, MPEG-2 de-interlacing on GeForce 6600 and higher GPUs
  • Broader SLI optimisations and quality-assurance validation for the latest games-including specific SLI profiles for more than 150 of the most popular titles

The NVIDIA Release 80 graphics driver gives end users the ability to mix and match any SLI Ready graphics cards of like GPUs to use in an NVIDIA SLI configuration-using two PCI-Express graphics cards in tandem for unparalleled graphics performance. Previously, customers had to use two graphics card from the same vender in an SLI configuration.

A wide selection of notebook manufacturers will also be supported with the NVIDIA Release 80 graphics driver, the first time that NVIDIA mobile GPU users can take advantage of new features and performance with every NVIDIA graphics driver update.
